Uninspired

Back when I was a university student, I used to have a lot of ideas to write in this blog. A lot. I always could get the inspiration that I want anywhere, anytime. Inspiration from Mother Nature, people around me, my observation, my life, almost ANYTHING. When I read my old entries, I was quite amazed on my capacity to ponder on things that revolved around me and later put in words (I could be easily inspired by a petty accident at a bustop and then rushed back home to write about it). Didn’t matter whether I was writing an emotionally-charged entry or just updating the daily little tasks back then in Down Under. I could just write and let my thoughts flow. But now, I find it hard to find the inspiration and start writing as frequently as I can. Is it because of my work? Or the lack of accessibility to technology? Sometimes, when the inspiration came, I was at home, without a pc and internet (yes, I’ve been living quite a technology-less life nowadays) or when something interesting struck my mind, either I was mentally tired to wittily write about it or I was bogged down with some crucial work. Ergh..!!

I miss writing :(

Inspiration, please find your way home & come back to me......

hey ya'll!!

People might think that I was burying my head (too deep) into my never-ending piles of work that I have no time for other things in life. Well, I did bury my head, BUT I still manage to indulge in life's little luxuries.Heh. I tried the Fish Spa the other day with Sha at The Pavillion. It was ticklissshhh as hell. But relaxing and funny and cute at the same time. Just imagine having these mini-sized creatures nibbling away your dead skin cells from your feet. The moment I dipped my feet in the pool, we were attacked by the hungry so-called "Doctor Fish". Me and Sha terus tergelak cam kena poke or geletek mercilessly ala-ala kaki tgn kena ingat sumer.Haha.. We went there early so, so I reckon the fish were feasting on their "breakfast"(our feet).

the fish, enjoying their "yummy" breakfast

We headed to ZEN by Secret Recipe for brunch afterwards.I like the place. Very much alike Secret Recipe but the concept is more of a semi-fine dining eatery. On top of that, it offers more variety too! :) And the dessert? Rambang mata. They don't only have the usual, famous Secret Recipe cakes but also mouth-watering delicacies such as Triffle, Tiramisu, pastries and those lil' cute cakes/pudding displayed in a very inviting presentation. Here's a sneak preview of my strawberry triffle. Mind you, it's very very rich, thick and creamy. Sinful! But worth every bite of it.Hehe.

layers of fat ready to invade my body

Last Sunday was a total alumni day. I had my university luncheon at Shangri La and later, Petrosains Dinner at Bora Ombak. Alumni gathering is meant for us to catch up with our classmates/friends after years of working and forgetting to contact each other. I miss UQ. University of Queensland is the place to be!(promote! promote!) Hehe. But yeah, I really miss the good old times back in uni. Where life was only about trying, experiencing & enjoying things that matter. Sure we all worried once in a while about the never-ending asisgments, exams, group projects (annoying & lazy groupmates) and studying. But we always know how to have fun back in those days. There was always a way.Even with our limited student's budget & holes on our pockets.Aaah.. I was so lucky to have the chance to study there and experienced my uni days in a foreign land where people were highly civic-minded, open (you could walk barefoot & nobody will give a damn abt it), friendly (Malaysians are friendly too but only to tourists!). Initially I was a bit nervous to turn up for this UQ event knowing that only 4 of us would be coming (my batch & ppl that I knew). True enough, when I arrived (was fashionably late as usual), the crowd was made up of mostly the elderly people. Yang graduated 10-30 years ago! We were the youngest ppl there. Kinda awakward la jugak, like how do you converse casually with people of your parents' age (mungkin lagi tua.my parents are still young :)), yang dah waaaay established (Datuks, Datins, succesfull entrepeneurs, politicians etc etc). If they were my bosses, takdela awkward mana pon kan. I could always cook up something about The Company's latest issues ke ape ke kan. Since we didn't have anything in common except for the fact that we studied at the same uni, takkan nk ckap pasal weather pulak kan.Friendly lebih2, derang ingat aku gatal pulaakkkk.Hahah.. But all in all,it was a good experience. Owh did I mention that I manage to accidentally insult this Datuk who owns a business in Labuan? Somebody please hand me a copy of Socialize like A Socialite for Dummies.

happy family of Petrosains. How I miss the good old times. The dude yg paling kanan is my supercool ex-boss!

me, him, faiz and farah - happy faces

goofing around

And not forgetting, bob-bon's Birthday! Happy Birthday Zaza! I hope you enjoy the surprise birthday cake and the cupcake.Tehee...

chocolate mousse : the way to de-stress

okay. The Apartment. Been there twice.I must say the concept of having an eatery with household equipments and deco is quite nice. And relaxing.Eating a nice plate of pavlova while having shower nozels creatively sticking out from the wall is enjoyable. It's like you are eating in a shower but you are not. Hehe. The first time i went there was with Shelly and second was with ma' pipeys! The chocolate mousse, i tell you, is sooo very the sinful.Once you pop, you cant stop kinda thing.Hehe.Highly recommended for those who are PMS-ing or if you're having a really really bad day.

the girls posing for mr.raf's super cool phone (konon2 nya).btw, adults yg pakai braces, cute okk *wink wink*

abg rambut pacak :p, ainal & wifey

All in all, the food variety is not interesting enough.I tried the chicken n mushroom pasta in which we requested for the chef to ommit the white wine sauce (of course laa kan). It was awful.Really really tasteles pasta i have ever tasted. We even had to request for chilli sauce. It was like a dish made for Britney Spears on a strict diet regime, 10 days countdown towards the Grammy Awards' red carpet.Yeah that bad.So people, DO NOT order this.Unless you have got only 1 week left to squeeze in that little black dress.Hehe.But do try the Big Fish dish (like everyone else, Raf's meal was made to be pau-ed by us). It's yummy. Fish covered with cheese (i think) with grilled potatoes. Talking about food has made me hungry already. And it's only 9.08 am in the morning.Sheesshh..

So what are you guys having for lunch today?

what's sharper than a knife?

Mean and harsh, harsh words told by your loved ones - parents, siblings, best friends and of course your other half.Because what they said, matters. How far could someone go in saying things that hurt your feelings? More importantly, how could they even have the heart to say that to you, when you least expected it? I dont know. I wish I have the answers. And to what extent could you measure someone to be disrespectful towards you?Is voicing out your thoughts when you feel something is not right somewhere, considered as disrespectful? While at the same time, they were speaking up their thoughts about you frankly, without the least feeling of humanity. Pendek kata, mengapa dia boleh mengatakan sesuatu yang tidak enak di dengar mengenai diri kita kepada kita, tanpa secebis rasa kesal dan pada masa yg sama, apabila kita melakukan perkara yang sama, we were judged, lashed out at, verbally tortured and emotionally tormented? Can we call them disrespectful then? At times, in a way,i do think that because we are women, we were expected to just give in and behave more like a woman who have no say in everything. How sad.And just because they are guys, they can act like pigs they own the world? (Didnt apply to all though)

I reckon they didnt realize that when they say things that hurt my feelings, they also brought down my self-esteem & confidence to a level, where I felt immensely hurt, emotionally thrashed and didn't even know whether can I trust that person again.

And I am not sure whether I can ever forgive that person who officially has stripped me off from feeling happy.

Sunburst Music Festival 2008

It started off with countless obstacles that nearly pushed me on the edge of not going. I was THAT close, believe me. Battles in searching for the perfect outfit that went astray, intimidating reminders of PPA that was yet to be completed, failure in finding a place to crash after the concert, my favourite stripey Converse Argentina World Cup 2006 Limited Edition sneakers that went missing in action (it was crucial for the concert), persuading & convincing my mom that I’ll be out until 2-ish in the morning, mother-daughter quarrels on silly stuff that drove me crazy and most importantly, appearance of zits on my face just the day before the big day (which I took as a bad omen in any big day or events that were to take place. Ini mmg stress tahap dewa okkkk. Why oh whyyyy??..). But lucky me, he was taking the responsibility of distracting me form those petty but were stubbornly-getting-on-my-nerves things, like a pro. Hehe.

Ok back to the real deal. When we arrived, there were many cars parked along the highway. Ah excited! Seeing many people heading towards the main entrance. Beratur jap kat luar since entrance was not yet open, panas Tuhan saja yg tau. While waiting, we munched on some yummy cucuk2 from a pakcik. Tengah syok makan2, tibe2, the vocalist of the famous band, Hujan passed by us. We looked at each other and “Jom amik gambar dgn dia!”. Belum sempat nak proceed with any action, the pakcik who was selling the cucuk2 blurted “Haa.. Hujan, Hujan.. Meh, meh. Pilih2 mana nak”. While patting the vocalist’s back. Hahahah.. Pakcik jual cucuk2 pun tahu band Hujan ok. I bet mesti dia nak tergelak kena sapa mcm tu. Kelaka gile. It was so spontaneous and hilarious.

Once we were inside, I was so ecstatic seeing all the tents selling food, beverages and merchandises, grand stages and many music lovers scattered everywhere. We were there early since he did not wanna miss out seeing Y2K performed. I think they were pretty cool since they won Blast Off. With cool mask-wearing image and energetic performance (lihat sahaja vocalist dia yg berperut gendut itu. Menyanyi sambil melompat2 tanpa jemu. Impressive. But the noticeable, moving tummy was a bit distracting laa. Maafkan saya ye. Tetapi anda memang hebat). I must admit I could understand why they managed to get into top 10 of World Finals Global Battle of the Bands, though their music want not the kind that I usually listen to. There was this one girl in the band (I bet she was very young & pretty judging from her figure and nice long hair underneath that mask), probably their sidekick vocalist, who did not sing much throughout the performance. Ala-ala back-up gitu laa kan. Once in a while when her voice could be heard over the loud booming music, it was a good voice. Sweet. Tapiii… while the band performed a harder rock version (it was really hard to the core but good) of Rihanna’s Umbrella, there was this part when the girl belted out “Under my umbrella..” (ella, ella, eh, eh..), oh her voice was…… ganassss.. How do I describe it eh? Aku terkejut. So was the audience. I looked at him and he looked and we were like..macam whaaa’?.. haha.. just didn’t expect it coming from that girl.

Ok, to cut the story short, we watched performances from Atilia, Najwa, Gerhana Ska Cinta, Pop Shuvit and Gigi. Not much to comment on other than good performances from them all. I was pretty excited to see Najwa. Ok I admit, it was the name. Hehe. But she was quite entertaining on the keyboard. Cume audiences tak berapa ramai that time. Hujan (not the band) laa pulak kan tibe2 time Pop Shuvit performed. If not I’d be joining the crowd in the mosh pit dah *insert note of exegerration here*. Their songs were awesome and very adrenaline-pumping & and the crowd just loooooved it. They just made you wanna jump and bang your head to their songs. Good interaction with the audience as well. Owh while waiting for the next performance, we spotted Hujan vocalist doing some tap dancing with his gf, I presumed, near the stage area. Comelll je. Hehe. So, we made a move and headed towards him to take some pictures. He turned out to be a very very good sport! Laid-back, funny and outgoing. Kelakar gile time nak amik gamba tuh. Kitorang ni mmg selamba laa kan. Dia pun boleh tahan gak loyar buruk. Kelakar. Haha.

Hujan!(the band) Well oh well what can I say about this band. It was raining quite heavily when Hujan started to perform. We waited under the tent feeling very stressed out coz we really wanted to watch Hujan. Dah la starving like hell. Luckily, just before they performed Pagi Yang Gelap, the heavy rain stopped. It only drizzled. Not to miss our fave song, we gambled and ran towards the stage to join the already drenched crowd. It was awesoooommmmeee. Could not be described words. Aahh.. not only tht, during singing & jumping around, I finally managed to see his eyebrows and a bit of forehead (that i as really curious about previously) that were covered by his trademark of hair style. Hehe. Anyways, Hujan, you rock my socks!

Then, after Maghrib prayer, a change of dry clothes we rushed to see Reza Salleh. While waiting and watching Tempered Mental on stage, he spotted Reza Salleh passing by us heading to the stage to get ready. “Eh babe, Reza Salleh laa!”

Him: Reza Salleh right? We’ve been following you since Rock The World man!

Reza Salleh: Oh really? (Pause for a while). Ooo.. You guys came to the booth right? (referring to the booth where he distributed Junk mags during Rock The World). I remember you guys!

Me: (giggling like mad coz I was feeling soooooooooo over the moon that Reza Salleh remembers us! REZA SALLEH REMEMBERS US!! It has been 2 years okkk since the last Rock The World. It must be the tudung laa I tell you. It just made me noticeable out of the hundreds people that were there. Ehehe..).

Him: (grinning from ear to ear)

Reza Salleh: oh btw, what’s your name?

Him: I’m Sharil

Reza Salleh: and you are..?

Me: Najwa

Reza Salleh: Owh Najwa. (I swear he looked a bit surprised when finding out my name. Maybe nama sama dgn the performer Najwa kot? Oh well, whatever the reason was, who cares when you were having a real conversation with your fave singer that remembered you!)

(he shook hands with Reza Salleh and made some small talks)

Him: can we have a picture with you?

Reza Salleh: of course!

So people, pictures as follows. I made a vow that by hook or by crook, I’ll go to the Laundry Bar if Reza Salleh is performing. Ngeee..

Incubus. Now don't get me started with this one. Absolutely mind blowinggggggg. Enough said.

Ok people, let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

My amusing trip to KK

If i can choose anywhere(apart from my beloved KL) where i can get to be transferred to, it will be Kota Kinabalu, Sabah :) So far, I've gone there twice :) Fist time, for a communication session. Second time, for a training, which i managed to convince my unconvinced boss that i really have to go.I just dont understand why my boss had this mindset if you wanna go for training, go must go to sessions in KL.Outside KL, she'll take a very verrry long time to consider.Ala-ala dengki xnak kasik la tuh kan.Faham sangat. To her, gi tempat2 cam KK nih, nanti pergi berseronok je. Sangat apakah kan? Padahal,if you wait for the next session, u hafta wait like for another 2-3 months. It's for our own development pun.Eleee..Cam la time dia muda2 dulu, tak amik kesempatan g tempat2 yg tak penah pegi.Tol tak? Anyways, KK really is a cool place to go to. Pegi training macam gi bercuti.I like the fact that i can just walk from 1 mall to another. The food outlets are everywhere.Depan hotel je. Tengok kat tingkap, dah nampak.Hehe..Staying at a posh hotel like Le Meridien really do make my stay more interesting.

activated

hi readers. i'm back after a very very long silence. fret not,i made a vow that i'll try to update at least once a week.

well actually i'm being through a rough time. Everything seems so...cloudy..at the moment. BUT i'm not gonna put you through a hard time as well by reading all the sadness n crappiness of my life bad happenings.Instead i'll try to entertain you people with my charms that i hope are still there ;)

Okay. One in a million finale. I'm a big fan of this reality show. Maafkan saya ye.Though many people seemed to favour Shila over Ayu but I really think that Ayu deserved it. A friend of mine said that Shila has the vocals of Christina Aguilera when belting out that Spanish song & that it'd be hard for Ayu to make it in the industry simply becasue of..the looks. I mean c'moonnn...Malaysian music fans are getting smarter nowadays.I personally think that Ayu has improved a lot. She really can sing well.Have you heard her duet performance with Jac Victor?Fabolousss..Mungkin juga gaya pemakaiannya sedikit..How do you say it? Janggal?..Alaaa it wasnt entirely her fault pun. I thought they have stylists or wardrobe managers to handle that. All that can be mastered in no time.I really hope that she will make it big! Go Ayu!

Next, my division grand dinner. one word. weee-huu!! It was fun all the way.I have never thought that people would actually go all out to abide the theme "Movie Characters". Haa..Gempak tak? Memang pun. Hehe. I admit laa that at first, i was very very sceptical & hesitant knowing that we all had to dress up accordingly to the theme.Kalau tak, makan luar dewan.Garang x garang tu?I mean, at this age (not that old), within this kind of environment (we are always perceived as rigid), would people really be ecstatic at these sorts things? The answer turned out to be surprisingly positive!People from all walks of life (read: regardless of positions & age - GMs, Managers, the young ones & the makciks), were really into the theme! We got princesses (i was one of them, I was Giselle from Enchanted.Don't ask.Hahaha..), jedis, many pirates, warriors, fairies, & many more famous characters. It was a very memorable nite. One that would be hard to beat.Performances-wise, supremo! We had a live band, all made up from the division members. And lagi best, the drummer was a Senior Manager in his 50s. Cool taaaak?...A very funny sketch. And many more songs sang live by the talented singers from the division. The guitarist (a spikey hair dude with a fondness of pro-emo rock songs)asked me to sing for the band before that but I declined.Katanya "suara kau rock aah, boleh nyanyi lagu2 cam nidji ke dewa ke, lagu2 rock aah.." Hahahaha.. I vowed that the one & only time that I'd saig (in showers, not counted yaa) was during the karaoke competiton when I attended PIPE. I was amazed on how did i summon enough courage to belt out several songs in front of an audience.Hahaha..Kelaka kelaka.I sang "Kau Ilhamku","Relaku Pujuk", and Peter Pan's "Mimpi yg Sempurna" and managed to get into the semifinals.Boleeeehh?? Hahaha.. Anyways, pictures to be enjoyed below :D

Me (Giselle), Kajol, Princess Fiona & Esmeralda

Giselle with Willy Wonka (best dressed) & Esmeralda

Cruella(best dressed!), a pirate, a victorian-era lady, Mr.Bean and Tun Fatimah

puas

I could never imagine putting on a pair of skinny jeans. Never. Period. Why? Because I think I don’t have the legs and height to wear it and way too curvy to pull it off. Ha-ha. (there goes my confession of the day..) But seriously, I’d always imagine only people like Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss could flaunt their long shapely legs and super thin body in this kinda jeans. Oh c’mon.. Why else would they call it skinny jeans? It’s not that I haven’t tried it on when skinny jeans started being the in-thing and fashionably a syndrome among women all over the world. I did. But I managed to look like a stumpy carrot with legs. However an amazing thing happened yesterday. During my retail therapy session with him (it was supposed to be his, initially) at OU, I surprised myself by getting myself a brand new spanking, skinny jeans!! Ha-ha.. Apakah?!?!? Yes, even I was surprised at this new development. I wasn’t even planning to buy anything since my raya shopping spree the other day has, kinda, burnt holes in my pockets. Hehe.. BUT, when I tried it on, I was like “Were those my legs?” Yup. THAT good people. I love the sight of my legs in it. Hehe. Long and lanky. So, me being me (awestruck and amazed), I bought it! Aah bliss. Nothing like the feeling after purchasing something sooo right and looked sooo good on you. So people, I am officially now the proud owner of a pair of super cool skinny jeans.

Moving on to the 2nd story. Aviator sunnies. Ok ok I know they looked oh-so-glamorous and stylish, BUT this kind was never my preference since it would always horizontally expand my tudung to the sides (dalam erti kata lain, mengembangkan tudung saya ke tepi) due to the shape of its frame. Same thing goes to the rest of sunnies/glasses species in the world. I’d always have to choose very carefully when dealing with this lot. However…. After a trip to this eyewear outlet to accompany him buy his super-cool sunnies, I fell in love with this aviator sunnies the moment I put it on. Haa..Sapa soh try utk suke2 je..Tengok, kan dah TERbeli.. hehe.. I love love love it. What has gotten into me? First the skinny jeans and now the aviator sunnies. This has made me a happier bunny with burnt holes in her pockets :p

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side.
I wait for you.
Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you.

Through the storm, we reach the shore
You gave it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you.
I can't live with or without you.

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give, and you give
And you give yourself away.

My hands are tied, my body bruised
She´s got me with nothing to win
And nothing left to lose.

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give, and you give
And you give yourself away.

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you.

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you
With or without you.

listen

have you ever felt that you really really need to talk to someone to just vent out and let go of everything that has been bottled up inside you.. yup. i had that feeling today. few mins ago. a pair of ears that can listen to me and at the same time be empathetic to what i was gonna say would be good. listen and pretend (if you have to) as if you are interested in what im saying tho u'd never totally understand it. after all i just wanted to enlighten (anyone who'd like to listen), about my truckload of work, crappy assignments, overly-low-aircond-temperature, too much eating junk food, busybody colleagues, the urge of buying new shoes at Nose (they are having sale now!!) etc etc.. Oh you know, the usual drill... Let me know if your interested...

monday

called up a few friends to have breakfast with them. noone's available. it's 7.20 now.too bad for me. a friend offered to join her BUT she was having breakfast with her bf. malas nak kacau.haihh.. was bugged by this monday blues symptoms since yesterday evening. so i thought a good session of breakfast with friends could cure it. sigh. none could make it. waited. it was now 7.30. received a call. the supposedly scheduled breakfast at 7.30 was cancelled and postponed to after 8. what? not now....sigh..more bad luck.i just couldn't afford it. it was the first day of the week plus, quite a lot of people wasnt in the office and my absence would have made it more obvious. and i hate it when the makciks stared at me when i went out after 8 eventho i was only gonna tapau some food. my partner in crime that was always there to cover for me wasnt in lah plak today. more depreseed. this was just not getting better at all. why is it especially at times like this, when i need people and food, so desperately, noone is there. getting hungrier. and crankier. i hate today. so pls, if i accidentally went berserk at anyone today, pls ignore and forgive me. i swear it was the aftermath of not having a good breakfast, AND, not being able to be around people that i love to be around when it comes to eating. Yes, you...

by the way

"By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for..."

By the way, i think loyalty is such a huge word for a person, like me, who think of frivolous things most of the time.. True it can be instilled and nourished and with God's help, be successful. But when you have experienced betrayal and nothing but negativity (most of the time), tell me, how could you learn to love and be passionate about it?

This was what i had been thinking of, almost the whole day when i attended the Barometer Workshop last Friday. it was meant for us*(from all walks of life: secretaries, non-executives, executives, managers)to get together and come out with ways to identify current mindset and behaviour of the division. It has done a pretty good job to help us gauge and visualize the pic of success that our division want. Throughout it all, issues like professionalism, integrity and many other vital values were discussed. When loyalty was being deliberated, i couldnt help but wonder about it over and over again... It was so funny when we were talking about these while the reality was different. My scepticism just got the better of me, i guess. But in a way, bagus lah jugak since early steps are being taken to try and change things to be better.

anyhow, on a lighter note, Faizal OIAM is going to be at Tower 1 tomorrow for that singing competition thingy, people! Self-reminder:I AM SOO GONNA BE THERE!! Eheh....

jauh jauh / from a-far

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

From a-far
Way beyond the mountain green
White sands
Await the azure sea

The waves break
Faintly whispering
Are the breezes that blow
Carrying my message to her

So sad
When I think of the past
Far away
The memories have been left behind

Lost, and consumed by the waves
That call to her
Leaving me alone
To remember her from a-far

weekend aftermath

i managed to comply to my things-to-do list during the weekend. i ate and slept and bersuka-ria till i found it hard to sleep last nite. Oh maybe i was still excited that The Lima won! Hehe..I wasnt a sucker for reality shows esp tht involed singing but Gangstarz kinda captured my attention. Anyhouuu.. The Lima won last night (i know this may sound ridicolous but that Taura was cuteeeee in a gay-ish kinda way. Hahaha.. He has great hairstyle and funky sense of fashion) My dvd player was temporarily shut down. i did watch waris jari hantu and shrek 3. but dua2 dvd hang in the mid of the movies. ngok! so i spent my lovely weekend to finish up reading Match Me If You Can. i am not usually fond of chic lit BUT this one was really good, i tell ya'! it managed to make me laugh (sorang2 cam org gile), smile (like org angau) and surprisingly make me shed a tear or two. (maybe this part wasn't so surprising sgt since i do cry at movies too. Hehs..) Blame it all on PMS. (or else i wouldn't be THAT emotional just by reading a chic-lite :p) But all in all, it was a good mind-relaxation practice. I need to do this more!
